FOTD #023 : pink bonnet! (mycena rosella)

the pink bonnet is a saprotrophic fungus in the family mycenaceae. there is little currently known about it !! it occurs in russia, but may be more widespread.

the big question : can i bite it?? the edibility of m. rosella is unknown.

m. rosella description :

"gills on hymenium. cap is conical & pink. hymenium is adnate. stipe is very long, bare, light pink to white & slightly translucent. spore print is white."

These gorgeous little fungi are so tempting but, sadly, they contain the toxin muscarine. It's probably in too low quantities to be a serious concern, and I am always tempted to try it, though.
